Habitat: Larger standing waters with little vegetation, warm shallows, large dunepools and sandpits.
Distribution: Sometimes massive influxes in whole the country. The last decade this species has increased in The Netherlands.
Flight Season: From May to October.One of the earliest and and the only Sympetrum species with a different life cycle. The eggs develop rapidly after being laid without a winter rest.
Status: Uncommon in The Netherlands
