Habitat: Only breeds in stands of Water-soldier Stratiodes aloides in marshlands. Also reproduces in canals and ditches in agricultural localities

Distribution: Dutch populations constitute the extreme western populations of it's range in Europe.

Flight season: End of July and August.

Status: Fairly rare and classified as endangered in the Red List.
